Orthogonality

Orthogonality corresponds to the (linear) independence of variables.
 
 
Orthogonal A matrix X is said to be orthogonal if the product XTX is a diagonal matrix. 
Orthonormal A matrix X is said to be orthonormal if the product XTX is the identity matrix I
